Compliance Partners
The requirements of the Clery Act require significant coordination and organization among campus officials and administrators. The University of Arizona’s goal is to provide a safe and secure environment for our campus community.
University of Arizona Police Department
The University of Arizona Police Department (UAPD) strives to provide the highest level of safety and services through on-going collaboration, community engagement, inclusive justice, and transparency. UAPD collects and evaluates reports of Clery crimes from Campus Security Authorities for inclusion in the Daily Crime Log and Annual Security & Fire Safety Report. UAPD collaborates with the Office of Public Safety to issue Timely Warnings and Emergency Notifications to alert the campus community of serious and continuing threats to the health and safety of the campus community. UAPD also offers primary and ongoing prevention programs to enhance campus safety and security.
Survivor Advocacy Program
Survivor Advocates offer individualized and confidential support to survivors of sexual assault, dating violence, domestic violence, and stalking. Survivor Advocates support the Clery Act by reporting incidents of Clery crimes and ensuring victims reporting sexual assault, dating violence, domestic violence, and stalking are provided with appropriate victims’ rights and options information including supportive accommodations.
Risk Management Services
The Department of Risk Management coordinates the university’s risk management effort through programs in occupational and campus safety, environmental compliance, and institutional insurance coverage. Risk Management supports the Clery Act by maintaining the university’s fire log, ensuring completion and documentation of fire drills and exercises, providing fire safety education and training programs, and collaborating on the production of the Annual Fire Safety Report, including fire statistics and policies and information related to fire safety systems within on-campus student housing facilities.
Office of Public Safety
The Office of Public Safety strives to maintain a safe and inclusive environment for all members of the university community to facilitate healthy learning, research, and work experiences, and persistently improve the university’s organizational culture. Public Safety is responsible for developing policies and procedures that seek to manage campus emergencies, mitigate risks to the health and safety of the campus community, and assess and manage potential safety threats.
Office of Institutional Equity
The Office of Institutional Equity (OIE) supports the University of Arizona’s commitment to creating and maintaining an environment that is free from discrimination. OIE supports the university’s compliance with the Clery Act by ensuring that victims reporting sexual assault, dating violence, domestic violence, and stalking are provided with appropriate victims’ rights and options information, supportive measures and accommodations, and information on disciplinary/grievance procedures. OIE objectively addresses and investigates complaints of sex discrimination (including sexual misconduct). OIE ensures that officials involved in the investigation or resolution of VAWA crimes receive annual training that protects the safety of the victim and promotes accountability. OIE also provides ongoing prevention and awareness training to university students and employees.
Human Resources
Human Resources recruits, develops and serves the University of Arizona workforce. Human Resources assists in complying with the Clery Act by reporting incidents of Clery crimes, ensuring that victims reporting sexual assault, dating violence, domestic violence, and stalking are provided with appropriate victims’ rights and options information, ensuring prospective and current employees are provided Annual Security & Fire Safety Report access, assisting in the identification of Campus Security Authorities, and providing access to primary prevention and awareness programs.
Housing & Residential Life
Housing & Residential Life provides support for more than 7,600 undergraduates and 300 graduate students that live in 23 dorms and 1 graduate housing complex on Main campus. Housing supports compliance with the Clery Act by reporting incidents of Clery Crimes, ensuring victims reporting sexual assault, dating violence, domestic violence, and stalking are provided with appropriate victims' rights and options information and supportive accommodations, adhering with policies for missing residential students and fire reporting and providing prevention and awareness programming for students.
Dean of Students Office
The Dean of Students Office (DOS) provides programs and support to help students navigate the university experience. DOS supports compliance with the Clery Act by reporting incidents of Clery Crimes, assisting in identifying Campus Security Authorities, ensuring victims reporting sexual assault, dating violence, domestic violence, and stalking are provided with appropriate victims’ rights and options information and supportive accommodations. DOS staff adhere with policies related to missing residential students, follow Clery Act related processes and policies related to disciplinary procedures including compliance with the Violence Against Women Act amendments to the Clery Act.
Campus Health Services
Campus Health Services is committed to supporting all students through quality and compassionate care, services and programs and by engaging with the campus community as a trusted health education resource. Campus Health ensures compliance with the Clery Act by reporting incidents of Clery crimes, overseeing compliance with the Drug Free Schools and Communities Act, and ensuring that victims reporting sexual assault, dating violence, domestic violence, and stalking are provided with appropriate victims’ rights and options information. Campus Health also offers primary prevention and awareness programs to enhance safety and prevent crime.
Arizona Athletics
Arizona Athletics supports nearly 500 student-athletes who compete across 20 NCAA sports. Arizona Athletics supports the Clery Act by reporting incidents of Clery crimes and ensuring victims reporting sexual assault, dating violence, domestic violence, and stalking are provided with appropriate victims’ rights and options information, notifying University Compliance of any locations controlled by athletics teams that are not located on the main campus, and collaborating with University Compliance to identify Campus Security Authorities.
